Administrator of estate is a person appointed by the court to represent an estate when no will is left and it is considered intestate. This person is responsible for collecting and securing all the assets of the estate; collect and settle all debts owed by the estate, pay for any funereal proceedings and court costs associated with probating the estate and distribute any remaining estate assets according to the laws of the state. Administrators of estates are similar to executors of estates with the primary difference being that administrators are court appointed while executors are chosen by the decedent prior to death and that choice is written and recorded with their last will and testament. An administrator will do what is required by law while an executor will follow the law and wishes of the decedent.
