Self Proved Will

A self proved will is a will that is written by the testator in a way that allows the probate court or other deciding agency to easily see that it is valid. Typically, if the will is witnessed and notarized under perjury of law it will be validated. Another factor when validating a self proved will is whether or not there are any contestants to the will. If there are no contestants the courts will usually validate the will with no further investigation; however, if the will is contested, the court may request to hear testimony from the witnesses who signed the will and the notary who signed the will. The court will then make a decision on the validity of the will.
