Self Proving Will

A self proving will is a will that is written by an individual on their own without an attorneys help. The will is signed, witnessed and notarized under perjury of law. Once the testator dies the will is passed on to the probate court to be validated. If the court feels it necessary they will bring in the witnesses to question them and they may also bring in the notary. Typically, unless the will is being contested, the court will validate the will after verifying it was written by the decedent.
