Statutory Will

A statutory will is a will that is basically a form that is filled out by the testator. It is very easy to complete and very cheap to prepare. However it is only valid in four states and they are not practical because they cannot be customized. Any alterations can invalidate the will, the person filling out the will must make choices based on what is included in the form, not what they truly want to do . For example, in California the statutory will requires all of a person's possessions to be left to one person as one gift. A statutory will is not comprehensive enough for most people and since it can't be altered should not be a choice even in states it is allowed in.
